This site is dedicated to my little sister Noor Amal. She was born on Dec 5, 2002 in the Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston Texas USA. Upon her birth we
were advised that Noor is born with an extra Chromosome, which means that she was born with
Down Syndrome("DS" for short). Initially, we had no awareness of DS, and after studying about it on the internet as well as discussing it with the medical doctors, we learned a great deal about DS. After having learned about DS, we were naturally concerened about the severity of the disorder. After having various tests, Noor was diagosed with
Mosaic Down Syndrome, which is a milder version of DS.
I work as a Behavioral Therapist with children diagnosed with Autism. Today, Noor is Six years old, and she has inspired me to write our experiences about Noor, and hope that the information provided on this site will help other families with children diagnosed with Down Syndrome. My objectives are to share information purely on Non-Medical basis, so that you could see how the whole family can contribute tremendously and help children diagnosed with Down Syndrome in gaining the confidence that they need to live and lead a normal life.
Noor is the first child with DS in our family; she will be seven on Dec 5, 2009. In addition to myself, She has two brothers, and we are all very fortunate to have Noor in our family. She has brought a lot love and affection, and it is a joy, a wonderful experience and a blessing to have Noor as part of our family.
